A Variety of Fruit
The people of the Kandlwaalhof farm are in charge of everything: from keeping a watchful eye on the ripening fruit all the way to presenting the refined finished product. It has been like that for generations. Well, there was one change: while variety is often starting to dwindle in other places, it increases even more here. The Luggin family cultivates various fruit, herbs, and maize. Using traditional processes and recipes, they process them to produce mustard and various products bearing the South Tyrolean seal of quality: apple juice, vinegar, and dried fruit.

Never stand still, keep introducing new products to the market” – that is how farmer Nadja Luggin describes her approach. The Luggin family’s most useful ally in their endeavours is the well-balanced climate on the sunny slopes all around the Kandlwaalhof farm at approximately 900 metres of altitude in the South Tyrolean Vinschgau valley – and on top of that, they are located right in the world-famous marble village of Laas/Lasa.

But the perfect environment is not enough to produce all-natural quality products. What really makes the difference is the ambition to keep tradition alive in the production of these organic niche products: Drying fruit is the oldest and most natural method of preserving it. Our dried fruit is fully natural and contains no additives whatsoever”, says Nadja Luggin.

Artisanship is key, and it is also what brings the Luggin family so much joy in their everyday routine on the farm: the varying tasks, the fresh air, the contact with happy customers. The Kandlwaalhof farmers are convinced that, ultimately, all that can also be tasted in the finished products.
